Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
In advance of dining at Aqua Shard, I had sent two emails to ask about Gluten Free options. These were not replied to but they did ring up to confirm the reservation (24 hours in advance) and advised that I would be accommodated.
The Waitress discussed my requirements with the Chef and advised from the Lunch menu the options which were Gluten Free, although they do have other items on the A la Carte Menu. On this occasion, I ate the Celeriac & Luscombe Cider Soup, Scottish Mussels and Sea Lettuce which was amazingly tasty. My main course was the Berkshire Crispy Pork Shoulder, roasted crab apples, black pudding mouse and Lancashire Red Kohlrabi. They served this with a sweet sauce and prepared my meat separately to the other diners. I was advised that the accompanying sauce was different to others.
Service was slow but it meant we were able to enjoy the spectacular views of London from the 31st floor of Europe’s tallest building. They did have Gluten Free options for dessert but I did not want one.
Even the toilets (Restrooms) have an amazing view over London, including the Ladies (not that I saw this!).
The lunch menu (excluding service and drinks) was £24 for two course which is very reasonable considering entry to The View, the viewing platform of The Shard is £25 (if you book in advance, for immediate entry you would have to pay £100) so the lunch is good value for money.
They don’t advertise it, but you can just visit for drinks at the Aqua Bar where snacks can be purchased.
