Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
Eating Chinese food that is Gluten Free is a challenge. Largely because many dishes include Soya Sauce (which surprisingly contains Wheat). With my Food Allergies, I can not have Eggs so looked for Rice noodles as well as a meat dish which would not be “dark” in colour, hence not contain Soya sauce. These dishes were recommended by the waiter who was well informed of Gluten Free options.
Being Friday the 13th, it was a terribly wet day in London but despite the poor weather, it was still very busy in the restaurants. Chinatown is decorated well for the Moon Festival, which occurs next week! Even in the rain, it looks pretty!
The Beef in Satay Sauce was amazingly tasty with lots of garlic and chilli, as well as the peanut based sauce. (I didn’t eat any of the onions or peppers as these are vegetables I have to avoid but as you can see, these are large enough to pick out with chopsticks!). The noodle choice included Ho Fun Noodles (Flat Rice Noodles) or Vermicelli (Thin Rice Noodles), the latter I selected with shredded duck and pickled cabbage. These were very good and filling.
