Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
Was really disappointed that Frozen Oven Chips are often coated in flour (to enable them to get a lovely crisp when cooking) and further disappointed when contacting the local chippie to find they cook the fish (in batter) in the same fryers as the chips, so an alternative has been sought…
Gluten Free Halogen Chips
Using a Halogen Cooker, lightly spray the boiled potato strips with vegetable oil and cook for 20 minutes, turning once by shaking the tray. These turned out really crunchy and had soft insides. Quick, easy and the Halogen cooker cleans itself after use (with added water).
Gluten Free Oven Tray Chips
Using boiled potatoes adding a little vegetable oil to an oven tray and putting into a hot oven. The potato can be added once it has been banged in the ban (to make the edges a little floury and soft). These require cooking in hot oven for 50 minutes, turning once. Clearly this is a similar recipe to roasted potatoes and produces very crunch chips but based upon the temperature of the oil and the oil distribution on the oven tray, the crunchiness is variable. Sprinkling with herbs adds to the flavour of the chips.
These are chip-tastic recipes!
