Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
As we head towards Easter 2014, I shouldn’t be surprised that there were several Easter related products in my April Crate of Nothing. And for the purposes of research, I decided to try this new egg (ahead of Easter!). This I have seen in Wholefoods stores and was excited to have in my “Crate of Nothing”. It is wrapped in a cardboard box like regular Easter Eggs and sealed in cellophane bag. At 84 kg it is literally what-it-says-on-the-tin: a solid chocolate egg. The difference is it is suitable for “Vegetarians, Vegans, folk with dairy, soya & gluten allergies & chocolate lovers”. Although if you have a nut allergy, they can not guarantee it is nut free!
Splitting the egg was managed with a sharp knife and some bashing of the egg but as you can see in the pictures, it is constructed of two solid halves. I really enjoyed the creaminess of the “chocolate”. It had a cocoa rich taste and was a good portion. I guess, half the egg is 42kg, so around the same size as a regular bar of chocolate. It was not as milky and smooth like regular chocolate brands but a treat that’s GLUTEN FREE, DAIRY FREE, WHEAT FREE, SOYA FREE and EGG FREE.

My April “Crate of Nothing” parcel contained a good selection of GLUTEN FREE and DAIRY FREE foods. These items are reviewed individually on my blog. They provide me with a novel way of trying new and exciting foods knowing my food allergies are catered for at £20 per month. It is a mystery what arrives!
