Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
This week is GLUTEN Awareness week with a whole push from Celiac UK campaign to raise this important issue. Many shops are participating and contributing to the awareness week. The High Street Kensington branch of WholeFoods Market are running a GLUTEN FREE Week which includes food tastings in store (Today: Wednesday 14th May 2014) as well as talks (Monday 12th may 2014) and a workshop which includes cooking demonstrations (Today: Wednesday 14th May 2014).
Review of Monday’s Talk:
As described by Wholefoods Market: “Nutritionist Alice McIntosh of The Food Doctor will be talking about the benefits and risks of following a gluten-free diet. This event is for both those who have coeliac disease as well as those considering a gluten free diet. Event will be held on the first floor in the Room with a View. First 30 guests will receive a goody bag! Light refreshments will be served“.
An informative discussion by a Nutritionist who discussed to the dozen or so attendees life without GLUTEN. It was an interesting discussion with a slant on “gluten may not be the only reason why you’re not feeling great” and a focus upon wider digestive issues, which when you put it into the context of whom our speaker works for, you understand why she was making this a wider issue. She was honourable in not explicitly “selling” the services of The Food Doctor but mentioned enough times and hinted at the services they provide which could assist and help, if you were choosing to go GLUTEN FREE.
Whilst I didn’t learn much from the discussion, it was useful to be reminded of some of the basic information surrounding going GLUTEN FREE and receive a “free” goodie bag (the event was £5.95).
