Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
I have tried several different pizza bases as it is an easy home-made meal which you can add a variety of topping to. This recipe is for a simple lunchtime treat.
Made by The Venice Bakery, these are a three-pack of circular pizza bases which are ready to use. These do not require storage in a fridge (“Life: up to 60 days ambient; 90 days chilled; 120 days frozen”) and are the size of a small side plate. They are GLUTEN FREE, WHEAT FREE, DAIRY FREE, EGG FREE, SOYA FREE, CORN FREE (Really: corn in a pizza base!) and NUT FREE as they boast on their website. (One is probably not really enough for one person so the three-pack was used for two people). This product won The Innovation Award at the 2014 Free From Food Awards. (Ingredients: Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Potato Flour, Olive Oil, Fresh Yeast, Water, Sugar, Salt, Italian Herbs.)
Arrange the toppings on the pizza bases, being careful to “pile it up” in the middle of the base.
Cook in the oven at 200 Degrees Centigrade for 8 to 10 minutes until cooked (with the toppings bubbling away).
A good easy recipe with a good tasty base. It wasn’t a thin and crispy base as the thickness is quite doughy, bready and thick. You can see that there is a good mixture of herbs in the mixture which adds flavour to the base without overpowering the pizza but I know I have had better (despite it’s award winning).
