Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
From the new Summer Menu, I have already tried the Peppered Salmon Risotto which I really liked so was excited to see a new Summer Menu pizza: Emilia.
The Emilia pizza is described as “Mixed mushrooms on a goat’s cheese, garlic oil & mozzarella base with rocket, lemon juice & black truffle oil” and that is what I wanted. The waiter returned after we had placed our order and advised that they had run out of standard GF bases as there was high demand for these, but the suppliers had sent smaller pizza bases so would it be acceptable to serve two smaller pizzas than just a single one? Of course, I said YES PLEASE.
The GLUTEN FREE bases reminded me of the frozen cheese and tomato pizzas my mum used to buy me when I was a kid. It is bready but relatively thin and crispy (but a little thicker than a regular pizza). The toppings on this special pizza really go together: beautiful soft melted goats cheese with soft flavoursome mushrooms and a contrasting crunchy layer of rocket leaves and topped off with nutty black truffle oil and shavings of creamy nutty cheese. A good combination that was strange to have two smaller pizzas than just a single one, but twice as much GLUTEN FREE deliciousness!
