Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
Before you fly, if you’re travelling in a better class than “coach” and /or you’re a member of the Airline’s Loyalty Programme you can find solace in their lounge facilities. British Airways no longer have their own lounge at Hong Kong but applicable passengers are able to use the Qantas lounge situated close by the main International Security Point.
This is not a lounge review so I wont be commenting on the showers, office facilities and /or soft furnishings of the facility but focused upon the food offerings (and specifically GLUTEN FREE food).
The large food area is situated almost in the middle of the lounge and has a selection of hot and cold dishes. Consistent with British Airways’ Departure Lounges at T5, they have extensive signage which outlines food allergies in their ingredients highlighting GLUTEN FREE items and VEGETARIAN items. On offer, they had a selection of hot dishes:
A selection of cold salads:
And of course, desserts:
I spotted the only GLUTEN FREE dessert: Chocolate Chip Macadamia Brownie which I had to try as I love anything chocolate (whether in regular GLUTEN FREE BARS, GLUTEN FREE CHOCOLATE EGGS , Biscuits Cakes or tarts). The cake slice is quite dry and heavy but actually when you bite into it, the smooth chocolaty nutty mush is just delicious.
Whilst there was a good selection of food items (largely not GLUTEN FREE but an adequate choice) I have to say all I enjoyed was the Chocolate Brownie (as when I boarded my night-flight back to London, I knew they would be serving my GLUTEN FREE Meal so I didn’t want to over eat!) and a better selection than the British Airways lounge at Heathrow.
