Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
It seems that Quiche Lorraine is the product of the moment as I recently tried the M&S Made without Wheat Quiche Lorraine and now have tried another one by Too Good to be Gluten Free. This was a product line which I heard about at the Free From and Allergy Show held in London. At the show, they mentioned this would be launched soon and so when I saw it at Wholefood Markets, I had to try it. (From a Facebook group that I’m a member of, I know that this product, along with other “Too Good to be Gluten Free” products are now available in Sainsburys and this month (September 2014) they have some very attractive introductory pricing offers which are much cheaper than Wholefoods Markets.
The range of “Too Good to be Gluten Free” products are all the same size, which is small but big enough for one person if you serve it with something else! (Other products reviewed from this range are included at the bottom of this post).
The pastry is a good solid piece, thick and smooth. The filling is “mushy” in a nice way with small pieces of maple cured smoke bacon which are sporadically spread throughout the individual Quiche. The filling is perhaps more cheesy than other Quiches I have tried (which might be due to the mix including Emmental as well as extra mature Cheddar) which contrasts with the bacon but I’m back to the size: it provides a good portion if you serve it with something else but otherwise it isnt quite enough by itself.
