Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
Having returned back from NYC and enjoyed some excellent GLUTEN FREE meal, I thought I’d share my meals with you…
On a previous trip to NYC, I have eaten in Applebees as I find them an easy dinner option whom offer a separate GLUTEN FREE Meal. Whilst some of the dishes on their GF Menu are specially created for the diner and do not appear on the regular menu, they have a good selection. On request, they provide a folder of information, ingredients and allergen data.
After visiting here last time and loving their burger creations, we returned at least twice on our trip for good lunches. The first burger (Chicken breasts, Portabella mushrooms, Colby Cheese, Mayonnaise, Thick Cut Bacon, Mustard on GF Rice Flour Roll) served with a basket of fries for sharing. My second burger was Beef, Green leaf Lettuce, Canadian Bacon, Mayonnaise, Mustard on GF Rice Flour Roll) and more fries!
This great eatery offers GLUTEN FREE Mac’n’ Cheese with GF breadcrumbs so we had to return. Last time I tried the Mediterranean Mac’n’Cheese so this time I enjoyed a Alpine (“A swiss Mac that keeps you coming back for more gruyere coupled with its partner in crime slab bacon, hard to resist”. It is deliciously creamy with plenty of meaty bacon pieces.
Looking online, this restaurant chain came up as somewhere that offered good GF Options. I checked on several websites to validate the information and could find most of their sauces over their famous wings have no GLUTEN CONTAINING INGREDIENTS. They offer a full listing of allergen information online. I had the Honey Mustard Wings which were GLUTEN FREE and tasty.
A small local restaurant (108-02 72nd Ave, Forest Hills, NY 11375), just on the main drag of eateries in Forest Hills, Reef Restaurant do not offer a separate Allergen Menu but the waiting staff are well informed of their menus and can cater for all food allergens.
The portions were very generous although it was awkward after establishing I was GLUTEN FREE, they still insisted that I took some bread!
So not a formal restaurant but definitely an eatery with lots of joy (frozen yogurt which included a GLUTEN FREE and DAIRY FREE option).
Whilst their regular frozen yogurts are not GLUTEN FREE, they offer a PLUM and a MANGO sorbet which are both GLUTEN FREE.
A chain of Pizzerias and Grills which offer a computer terminal (with links to their website information) so you can access their allergen information. Within the Menu book, there is a GLUTEN FREE Menu which outlines the key options available:
A really tasty GLUTEN FREE Pizza. It was a strong flavorsome tomato sauce with a good firm bready base.
