Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
Coeliac UK have worked with several restaurants to support accredited GLUTEN FREE offerings and I didn’t realise but Naturally Chinese in Surbiton is one such restaurant (like Ed’s Diners). Whilst it isn’t around the corner, (7 miles away), it seems strange living in Zone 2 London, to travel out of town for a meal when there are restaurants all around but the short drive out to Surbiton is worthwhile when you have such a good Chinese selection.
The separate GLUTEN FREE Menu makes it easy to understand what choices are available. They are proud to state and confirm, they do not use any MSG Monosodium Glutamate in any of their cooking which is also a healthier choice. With several photographs in the Menu, it is useful to identify some of the more unusual dishes. So what did we eat…
King Prawn delicately battered in sweet and sour sauce:
Not a usual Chinese dish I would choose but the opportunity to have “battered King Prawns” was exciting and the traditional Chinese sauce of Sweet and Sour was delightful.
Singapore Noodles: (without any EGG or CHILLI):
Whilst this should be served more spicy, and with bits of egg in it, I opted to have mine made just for me. It was tasty although I did miss my Soy Sauce. The saltiness element was probably missing from the dish but a good mix of rice noodles with mixed meat /fish and some vegetables.
And some more vegetables…
Pak Choi served not with Oyster Sauce (as it is based upon Wheat containing Soya Sauce) but with Garlic and they were generous with the garlic (probably too much) but it adds a depth of flavour to the vegetables.
A good mixed Main Course which of course was GLUTEN FREE.
