Through one of my Facebook groups, I was alerted to a new range of Shortbread biscuits by the famous Walkers. The Walker family have been making Shortbreads for over 100 years in the Speyside village of Aberlour in Scotland. They are self proclaimed to be the “World’s finest shortbread” in their distinct tartan packaging. A favourite (probably) with tourists who crave something traditionally British; it is exciting that they have extended their range to include three new flavours which are GLUTEN FREE.

So how do they taste?
I have to confess that after opening the large box and finding the biscuits in amongst the packaging that these were opened first as I love my Chocolate. (Whether it be Chocolate Bars, Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate Tarts, Chocolate Cupcakes, Chocolate Desserts, Chocolate Biscuits,Chocolate Muffins, anything with Chocolate!). And they don’t disappoint. The biscuits has a buttery taste and there is just the right amount of evenly distributed chocolate chips to add a sweet hit to every bite.
Another interesting flavour mix with small pieces of zesty lemon as well as the sharp ginger encased into the buttery biscuit. I am not a huge ginger fan (at all) but this added a spicy flavour to these biscuits without being too much. I would say they’re not as attractive as the Chocolate Chip biscuits nor the plain ones but another great GLUTEN FREE biscuit. Perhaps because of the additional flavours, they have a “yellower” shade than the other selections. And finally…
These biscuits taste devine. A simple and plain biscuit but very crumbly and not at all chalky (as some GF biscuits can be). They are great for dunking and there is a lovely freshness to the GLUTEN FREE biscuits.
