Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
The UK’s leading Biscuit manufacturer, McVitie’s has launched GLUTEN FREE Hobnobs which will excite many Coeliacs (and those following a GLUTEN FREE diet). I’m not one of them as despite my rather sweet tooth, even before I was diagnosed, I was never a huge biscuit fan. And I found Hobnobs to be rather bitty.
Indeed, now on my GLUTEN FREE diet, I find I can not tolerate GLUTEN FREE Oats so it’s not something for me to celebrate and get out the bunting! They have said that the range will be launched with a huge digital and PR campaign and I am sure it will get lots of traction as it demonstrates how the food market is changing. Another example of a huge British brand is embracing the “fussy” eaters and those with specific dietary requirements.
United Biscuits have stated that “the launch marks a commitment from UB to extend the accessibility of its popular sweet biscuit ranges, bringing the brand’s extensive baking expertise to a range of consumer dietary requirements. The new products will form part of the free-from sweet biscuit segment, which has seen continuous growth over the past five years, with the category doubling in size since 2012 to be worth over £55m today.” That’s a lot of biscuits!
Kerry Owens, McVitie’s Brand Director at United Biscuits, commented: “The free-from sweet biscuit segment is one that continues to expand, with 55 per cent of UK consumers now open to buying gluten-free products. As the market leader in the main biscuit aisle, free-from is an important sector for us to expand into, to ensure McVitie’s moments are open to all of our consumers with specific dietary requirements. Thanks to our strong baking heritage, consumers rely on McVitie’s to deliver great tasting, quality products, and as a result we anticipate strong demand from shoppers to see the range on-shelf in-store.”
One of the best GLUTEN FREE biscuits I have enjoyed and reviewed is the relatively new GLUTEN FREE Shortbreads by Walkers. These are very buttery and the Chocolate Chip ones are great!
And other biscuits tasted and tested on my blog include:

This information was correct as of July 2016.
But as I am learning, ingredients do change and therefore you should always read the label and check for yourself whether it is GLUTEN FREE or not!
