Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!

Enjoying GLUTEN FREE, EGG FREE, NUT FREE and DAIRY FREE Ice Cream from Yorica, Soho, London…

A new GLUTEN FREE, DAIRY FREE, EGG FREE, WHEAT FREE and NUT FREE Yorica Ice-Cream parlour has opened in the heart of London. They describe themselves as “We’re a friendly, curious bunch. Always learning, growing and creating fab free-from treats for everyone. Free-from means freedom. Simple. So everyone’s invited to indulge without worry. All recipes and ingredients are free from wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs and nuts and all entirely vegan. Yorica! is where the love is. From process to product. Bye-bye allergens and intolerances! It’s our outta this world, earth-bound ingredients that makes Yorica! so divine. All free-from. All certified and traced, from crop to cone.”

Located between theatreland in Soho and Oxford Street on Wardour Street in London, it is quite a small shop with a few seats before you head to the counter. There’s no seating outside but it’s clearly a snack which you can easily handle and walk on with! A great straight-forwards menu which outlines Ice Creams (in some regular flavours as well as unusual ones such as Chocolate & Beetroot, Melon and Bubblegum) as well as options for a tub or a Free From cone (!) Or Frozen Yoghurt (in Vanilla, Matcha, Chocolate or Caramel) or Shakes (based upon any of the Ice Cream flavours).

I did try the Chocolate & Beetroot Ice Cream and found it had earthy tones and was very refreshing but instead choose the Chocolate & Orange (which did taste just like a wet Terry’s Chocolate) alongside a scoop of Mango Ice Cream. These went together very well.

In addition, there are a toppings bar which enables you to add additional flavours and textures to the dessert: ranging from Fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mango…) Sauces (Raspberry coulis, Strawberry Coulis, Chocolate sauce…) and /or dry ones (which amazingly includes GF Cookies, Gummy Bears, Popcorn…) all clearly labelled to indicate which ones contain SOY. And they are proud to be all GLUTEN FREE, WHEAT FREE, EGG FREE, DAIRY FREE and NUT FREE. The Ice Creams look like a proper Italian Gelato shop and of course, the toppings make it all fun and jolly.

Indeed, they offer free toppings (which are sugar sprinkles) which are available from dispensers (on the right as you go in) but noticeably not quite next to the counter, so you wander past and miss them!

Also on my Blog (from last Summer) is a huge listing of GLUTEN FREE, DAIRY FREE, WHEAT FREE and EGG FREE Ice Cream Options… Click Here. Including Supermarket chains (such as Aldi, Co-Op, M&S, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tescos & Waitrose), Big Brands (including Ben & Jerry’s, Beechdean, Baskin Robins, Cadburys, Carte D’or, Calippo, Dale Farm, Green & Blacks, Haagen Dazs, Mars, Magnum, Mackies of Scotland, Lyon Maid, Kellys of Cornwall, Judes Ice, Mini-Milk, Solero, Terry’s, Thorntons, Twister) and DAIRY FREE Options (including Booja Booja, Almond Dream and Food Heaven).
