Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
I do love going to Trade Shows and Food Shows: they’re great environments to discover new GLUTEN FREE products including Chocolates & Sweets, which I do also love. Food Shows on my blog include Hotelympia @Excel Centre, Country Living Spring Fair@Islington’s Design Center, Foodie Festival @Truman Brewery, Europe’s largest Allergy & Free From Show in London and it’s sister show inLiverpool, as well as BBC Good Food and the Salon Du Chocolat, and even the Speciality & Fine Food Show, Food Matters LIVE. Overseas Shows include the Gluten Free Food Allergy Fest in Stamford, CT, USA. And in 2017, a new show appeared at Olympia, London called Top Drawer. This is platform for UK and International brands to present new ranges, best sellers and established winners in the fields of Home, Gift, Fashion & Craft. It is one of the largest shows I have been to with the two ground floors and upstairs of Olympia crammed with stalls and booths.
Of course I had a wander as well as watched a few fashion shows (!) as that’s so not part of my everyday life but I was there to check-out the any NEW GLUTEN FREE Chocolate and Sweet Treat products and I wasn’t disappointed…
New GLUTEN FREE Chocolate Bars by OCTO: Makers of organic, Raw and Vegan Chocolate which is made with Cocoa Beans and only Coconut Blossom Sugar (as the primary sweetener). The current range of Bars includes Cashews coated Nuts in dark Chocolate & Coffee, Figs coated in Raw Chocolate, Raw Chocolate Bar with Coconut Milk (DAIRY FREE!), Raw Chocolate Dark Bar, Raw Chocolate Bar with Almonds, Coffee & Mulberries, Raw Chocolate Dark Bar with Goji and Cocoa Nibs, White Bar with Pistachios and Salt, Chocolate Dark Bar with Madagascar & Peruvian Cocoa Beans, Dates coated in Dark Chocolate -Ecuador Nacional and Goji Berries coated in Raw Chocolate.
The Chocolate had a rich taste, especially the Ecuador one and some rather usual flavours to enjoy!
NEW GLUTEN FREE Popcorn by Popcorn Shed: A pair of cousins have set this gourmet popcorn company with a product made by hand, using all natural ingredients and free from preservatives or additives. These are suitable for Vegetarians and are completely GLUTEN FREE. Of course, I had to try the “Rich Chocolate” flavour which is based upon a cocoa-infused caramel base with Belgian Chocolate. This was tasty with a good level of coating on all the kernels. A good snack choice with other flavours including Pecan Pie and Salted Caramel.
Chocolate Making Kit (DAIRY FREE and GLUTEN FREE) by Choc Chicks (and also Choc Chicos brand): A new Chocolate Making Kit as well as a selection of Chocolate Bar which are of course GLUTEN FREE but also DAIRY FREE. Also Organic and suitable for Vegetarians! s The Cacao is ethically sourced from cooperatives in Ecuador and made from the prized single origin Nacional Arriba cocoa bean.
NEW GLUTEN FREE Chocolate Bars by NomNom: Made in Wales this new Chocolate Manufacturer had three flavours on show: Peanut Butter, Flame roasted Hazelnuts and Salted Caramel. I tasted the Peanut Butter one and it had real pieces of Peanut in the mix as well as a good dark chocolate. They stated that their flavours change seasonally so have to watch out to new innovations.
NEW GLUTEN FREE Chocolate Bar Gifts by Bloomsberry & Co: A delightful Chocolate company with a huge range of Gift Bars with colourful and meaningful messages from Ireland. They are available in the UK in some shops (Brissi in Notting Hill, Fulham Rd and Battersea), Capital Garden Centres (Alexandra Palace) and Neals Nurseries (Wandsworth).
WILKIN & SONS LTD: Not just Jam but GLUTEN FREE Gin and Candles: I know you’d be better not to eat the Candles but it demonstrates how brands are continually being extended. I have to say the GLUTEN FREE Gin was very fruity (like the jam) and delicious and available online.
NEW GLUTEN FREE Honeycomb Bars by Mighty Fine: A delicious variation on the Crunchy Bar with four core flavours: Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel, these are now available in bite-sized pieces in bags, as well as the traditional bars. The lightness of the honeycomb contrasts well with the Dark Chocolate. A good GLUTEN FREE snack!
