Enjoying GLUTEN FREE Easter Eggs in 2017: Part 3: DECADENT Department Stores (Refreshed April 2017)…

So Part 3 is focused upon the Decadent Department Stores Easter Eggs as it’s very nearly here: another Easter Celebration and there are EGG-cellent GLUTEN FREE choices out there today but do you know which Chocolate Easter Eggs, Chocolate Mini Egg or Chocolate Figurines do not contain GLUTEN? This is the last part of my ultimate Easter Egg guide of which there are three separate guides covering Part 1: Chocolatiers and Chocolate Producers,  Part 2: High Street Chocolate Eggs (including Asda, The Co-Operative Store, Holland & Barrett, M&S, Sainsburys, Tescos & Waitrose) and Part 3: Decadent Chocolate Eggs (for those luxurious consumers and extravagant chocolate lovers including Fortnum & Mason, Harrods and Selfridges).

As I love my Chocolate Bars, Chocolate Bags and Chocolate Boxes, I found myself examining Ingredients, Allergen Information and photographing this year’s offerings for Easter 2017.

This blog post includes…

  • Chocolate Easter Eggs and Chocolate Figurines which are GLUTEN FREE (and no warnings or “may contains”) as at April 2017.
  • Pictures of the items with ingredients shown for selective products (and typed out where it is particularly difficult to read the packaging).
  • The listings includes Chocolate Easter own-label products seen in Fortnum & Mason, Harrods & Selfridges (London).
  • Some of the Chocolate Easter Eggs are SOYA FREE, DAIRY FREE, EGG FREE, NO ADDED SUGAR and DAIRY FREE. All are GLUTEN FREE.
  • Links have been included: direct to the Department Store’s websites.
  • It is accurate at the time of publishing (April 2017) but manufacturers do change their mixes so you should always read the labels before you put anything in your mouth and enjoy! It’s your own responsibility to remain GLUTEN FREE.

FORTNUM & MASONS:  Her Majesty The Queen’s own Grocery shop with it’s distinctive bluey/green packaging and some rather exquisite Chocolate products. Some really interesting and beautiful Chocolate products for Easter 2017 and some which are GLUTEN FREE. The ones I have seen and handled (and so no dropped as they are a little expensive) are:

HARRODS: Another very famous Store of London, if not the world, given it’s history and notoriety.  They have several Chocolate Boxes which are GLUTEN FREE and stock several big branded Chocolatiers for Easter. They have some own-branded Chocolate products for Easter 2017 and many of them are NOT GLUTEN FREE but some are:

Chocolate Chicks by Harrods

Contains MILK & SOYA. States “May contain NUTS

Easter Egg Hunt Bag (with hollow chocolate eggs) by Harrods

Contains MILK & SOYA. States “May contain  traces of  NUTS & PEANUTS

Giant Milk Chocolate Egg with Dark, Milk & White Chocolate Decoration by Harrods

This rather large egg was highlighted in Harrods as one that is GLUTEN FREE although it contains MILK & SOYA. States “May contain  traces of  NUTS & PEANUTS

At £800.00 I declined to purchase this one but was wowed by the size of this Belgian Chocolate luxury!

Marshmallow sweets by Harrods

And finally, Harrods also offered Easter Marshmallow Sweets which are appropriate shaped /themed for Easter 2017.

SELFRIDGES: The beautiful store on Oxford Street is another premium Department Store who have a huge Chocolate department, just around the corner from their Food Hall with some GLUTEN FREE Chocolate Boxes. They have their own-labelled GLUTEN FREE Chocolate Boxes but for Easter, they stock many key Chocolatiers and only a handful of own-label Easter Eggs. Most of their own-label chocolate Easter Eggs include the “May contain GLUTEN...” which is frustrating as they often do not have GLUTEN containing Ingredients but suggests that they are made in a factory with shared facilities and a risk of cross contamination.

And don’t forget Part 1: covering Chocolatiers and Chocolate Producers as well as Part 2: High Street Chocolate Eggs (including Asda, The Co-Operative Store, Holland & Barrett, M&S, Sainsburys, Tescos & Waitrose) for a comprehensive collection of Easter Chocolate treats for 2017.
