Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!
The NEW Caramel M&M’S from Mars will be launched in the USA in May 2017. This new flavour is expected to be the biggest in the brand’s history as the new addition will reportedly contain “a creamy caramel centre covered in delicious milk chocolate, enclosed in a colourful candy shell, offering the ultimate combination of flavors in every bite-sized piece”.
According to staff at People, who got to try out the new creation, the general consensus is that this candy “is legitimately a pure delight”, with one taste tester describing them as “Rolos with a crispy shell”. Sadly they aren’t due to hit the shelves until May 2017 – but people are already getting excited. Its one way of Mars celebrating 75 years of M&M’S and speaking about the launch of the new product, brand director Tanya Berman said: “Chocolate and caramel is such a popular flavor combination, especially with the fans of M&M’S. Mars have spent years developing the “proprietary” technology to inject caramel into M&M’s candy shells without it becoming smushed!”
M&M’s have had a GLUTEN FREE Peanut Easter Egg and Milk Chocolate Easter Egg for 2017, a limited edition flavour selection in 2016 and in the UK, Mars were under fire for reducing the size of the M&M’S bags earlier this year.
Whilst Chocolate lovers will know that only the Pretzel-flavoured M&M’s and the Crispy M&M’s are ones that contain WHEAT or BARLEY MALT, the rest are deemed GLUTEN FREE. Occasionally, Mars have launched seasonal variations which have a risk of GLUTEN cross-contamination, because they’re manufactured in facilities that also use Gluten Containing Ingredients. (At Christmas 2016, I saw that “Holiday Mint M&M’s“, “White Mint M&M’s” and “Cafe Mocha M&M’s” all stated “May contain WHEAT” in the USA). The ones deemed GLUTEN FREE include:
This is applicable for the UK & USA (as in Australia, I believe they are made differently and DO CONTAIN WHEAT! This is not unsurprising as Smarties in the UK “May contain WHEAT” but in the USA, they are definitely GLUTEN FREE!) The Mars statement is available for viewing on the USA website.
And to celebrate 75 years of Chocolates, Mars have launched a new campaign featuring an updated version of the song Candyman with singer Aloe Blacc and DJ /Producer Zedd which includes snippets of old advertisements from their archives.
