Product Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and Recipes: All GLUTEN FREE!

Enjoying my GLUTEN FREE Cornish Pasty on-the-go by The West Cornwall Pasty Company @Marylebone Station, London…

As a Judge of the FreeFrom Food Awards, one of the joys of being involved is learning about NEW products and of course trying them. Whilst I do enjoy the tasting /judging sessions of Chocolate, Confectionery, Desserts and Puddings, a new class that I judged earlier in the year was “Ready Meals and Snacks” alongside “Food on the go”. A surprise for me was tasting a really wholesome Cornish Pasty that was stated to be GLUTEN FREE and LACTOSE FREE made by the West Cornwall Pasty Company. It was so tasty that it was awarded a Gold Award in 2017.

So I was greatly surprised when I saw a heated one as I passed through Marylebone Railway station and couldn’t resist buying one. These are bagged up,so there is no danger of cross-contamination and sits well next to the regular range of pasties although it is slightly smaller than the regular ones!

It was very hot (as you would expect) with a good firm pastry surrounding a good filled pasty.

A good meaty filling which has a well seasoned filling. The pastry is firm but in places soft with a traditional thick crust. I think the joy of this snack is that it is available on-the-go as it is available in a Railway Station and it’s GLUTEN FREE so that makes it very accessible! This pasty is available at the following stations:

  • Banbury
  • Brighton Kiosk
  • Cambridge Station
  • Chichester
  • Cirencester
  • Guildford
  • Hereford
  • Marylebone Station
  • Norwich
  • Swindon
  • Waterloo Station
  • Wells
  • Windsor
  • York Station

Other Pastry snacks reviewed on my Blog include DS (now Shar) Frozen Sausage Rolls, M&S Made without Wheat Cheese & Onion Rolls, and home-made Sausage Rolls with Genius Frozen pastry.

This information was correct as of AUGUST 2017.

But as I am learning, ingredients do change and therefore you should always read the label and check for yourself whether it is GLUTEN FREE or not!
