Restaurant Review: Giraffe (Gluten Free) lunch, Brunswick Centre,London.

At Giraffe ( http://www.giraffe.net/classic/location/brunswick-centre ) on request, they presented me with a Gluten Free Options menu card. “It does what it says on the tin” and is a slimmed version of the full menu. A quick comparison with the regular menu and the usual suspects are (literally and) unfortunately off the menu  for me and allergy sufferers. But it is good to be treated to my own menu and clearly it allows me to review the choices without any awkward conversations with waiting staff on ingredients, possibilities and /or choices.

In the end I had the “Super healthy Veggie & Feta Salad: marinated feta, broccoli, sugar snaps, herby rice, alfalfa, boriotti beans, toasted seeds, rocket and baby spinach in a herby salsa verde dressing. I excluded avocado and tomatoes from my version due to dietary needs and really enjoyed the fresh richness of the feta cheese with the crunchiness of the leaves. A great tasty salad which was a good GLUTEN FREE main course.

On the website they also offer a PDF with a grid of their dishes highlighting the following allergies: seeds and kernels, peanuts, nuts, dairy, egg, garlic, celery, GLUTEN, vegetarian, vegan.
