NEWS: Are GLUTEN FREE Purple Chocolates ONLY from Cadburys?

The latest twist in the ongoing Court Battles between Chocolate Giants (Nestle & Cadburys) was ruled on earlier last month with the Court of Appeal rejecting Cadbury’s attempt to trademark a shade of purple so that it would encompass a wider range of confectionery products. Cadburys attempted to update an existing trademark (pantone 2685c which it has held since 1995)  so that it could apply this colour to cakes, drinks and sweets as well as Chocolate Bars.

This shade of purple is recognisable as a Cadbury colour but the attempt to extend this to a wider consumer offering was not accepted by Lord Justice Floyd. Whether we see Nestle using this colour in some of their products will be interesting (clearly not on Chocolate Bars!).

NOTE: Some of the Dairy Milk ranges are GLUTEN FREE, including several seasonal products such as Dairy Milk Snowballs, Dairy milk Mousse Snowmen and Dairy Milk Button Tubes were GLUTEN FREE, Dairy Milk Chocolate Advent Calendars were GLUTEN FREE , Dairy Milk Ice Cream Products including Dairy Milk Caramel Choc Ice Bar are GLUTEN FREE and Dairy Milk regular Buttons and Dairy Milk Giant Buttons including White Buttons are GLUTEN FREE.

And were still waiting for the Reduce Sugar Dairy Milk Bar (which is launched into the UK this year!).

But as I am learning, ingredients do change and therefore you should always read the label and check for yourself whether it is GLUTEN FREE or not!
