Flying from Bangkok back to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific in Business Class, I was excited to receive my pre-ordered Gluten Free Meal. The “lunch” meal tray was presented and they had left the “label” on the tray which had been ticked for Gluten Free which was reassuring.
It contained a small salad, GF bread and a small fruit salad.
The fruit salad consisted of grapefruit, papaya and pineapple and was consumed very quickly.
The salad was also quite small (compared to other airline offerings) but the dressing vinegar added a good dimension to the crunchy vegetables.
The main course “lunch” was chicken with rather yellow rice, courgettes, carrots and swede. The chicken did have a tomato sauce on it but this didn’t seem in proportion to the amount of chicken and was quite dry.
It terms of lunch meals, this was not the best tasting meal I had had onboard a plane. The chicken was rather dry, even with the red sauce and the vegetable were too soft and mushy which was disappointing but again, to have a GLUTEN FREE meal option onboard a flight which has been specifically made excluding items which I can not eat is good. Thank you Cathay Pacific.
Other Airline Meals covered on my blog include:
BA CW LHR- HKG & BA WT+ LHR – JFK & BA CW JFK-LHR.
